LOUISE BOURGEOIS AND MARK BRADFORD AT HAUSER & WIRTH WITH ARTIST JULIE WEITZ MAR 14 AT 11:00 SOLD OUT

One of the most significant additions to the Los Angeles cultural landscape is Hauser & Wirth.  The exhibitions are akin to museum shows with works that are historically rich and expansive.  The upcoming shows are no exception.  Please join artist and teacher Julie Weitz for a fascinating morning looking at and learning about the great Louise Bourgeois and MacArthur genius Mark Bradford.  “Louise Bourgeois The Red Sky” features a selection of previously unseen works on paper by this remarkable American artist.  Created between 2007 and 2009, this exhibition depicts both words and images that confirm Bourgeois’ lifelong fascination with the body, trauma, nature and memory.

“Mark Bradford New Work” follows Bradford’s recent solo exhibitions at the 57th Venice Biennale and the  Hirshhorn Museum.  Bradford lives and works in Los Angeles and received his MFA from Cal Arts.  Bradford gained acclaim from works in which he transformed materials scavenged from the streets into large collages and installations that speak to and about the diverse cultural and geographical makeup of Southern California.  Bradford is the recipient of numerous awards including a MacArthur “Genius” award in 2009.
